Hi guys, Is it possible to use Synplant on my GPU NVIDIA 4090 RTX ?
Thanks
Yes, because Synplant is CPU only. 😌
I guess it is supposed to be "No, because..." then? Maybe a typo? In the last reply?
Edit: Oh, or the question can be misunderstood maybe; like "Can I use Synplant ALSO on this system with this GPU?" (the last reply is correct then) and not like "Can I use Synplant to be executed on my GPU only (to maybe speed up things)?" (the last reply would not be that correct then, I guess).
I am using homebrew techniques to prune and minimize the neural nets so they are small in download and execute fast on a CPU without needing a GPU. In fact, the performance bottleneck of Genopatch is not running the neural nets but running the Synplant engine to evaluate all the sounds that it generates.
In other words, implementing neural net inference on GPUs would not increase performance enough to justify the development and maintenance work.
Thanks for the explanation. I find it kind of interesting - even while not really that deep into that topic. Still I like devs being transparent to some degree. (=
