MIDI Program Change not working in Ableton?

Hi, is there anything to be done to make Synplant 2 program change work in Ableton (11 or 12, Mac M2 Sonoma)? I know it has been discussed here before, and apparently it does work for some people but I failed to make it function.
I load Synplant (VST2, as I learned Program Changes do not work with VST3s) on a new MIDI track and create dummy clips with different program change numbers in them. I also set the MIDI settings in Synplant to respond to Program Changes.
However, whereas this solution works as a charm with some other plugins (tested e.g. with Chromaphone), it fails to change programs / presets switcheng these clips in Synplant. Any idea what could be done to make it work as it should, please?

Works for me in Live 12.1, M2 MBA . Are you expecting program changes to change patches, perhaps? Program changes change the presets which you load into the 16 program slots in the top bar to the left or the morph slider. If you don't have anything in those slots the program changes just go from one init slot to another, which might look like the program changes aren't doing anything when actually they are. Banks and subs are ignored as well as program #s higher than 16.

Did you check the "Enable Program Change" option in the Midi Settings? It might work.

Also as David said, Synplant only supports 16 pgm ch. (from 0 to 15).

What I do is I rack a Dial to Program Change Max for Live device and I set its range from 0 to 15). You'll need to modify the m4L device in order for MPE to keep being passed through, I can guide you for that if needed.
But yea, I've requested 127 program change many times, there must be something tricky because they never addressed it. Sad cause Synplant is very snappy when switching presets, could be dope for live sets...
