Running mountain lion with garage band '11 (6.0.5)

I downloaded synplant and I want to run it in garage band since I am familiar with it. However, the file is only a vst file, rather than an au file, which renders synplant not usable in garageband. the download page says vst/AU... how do i make sure it is AU so i can use it in garageband?

Both AU and VST are installed by the same installer. Please check your /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder. You should find a SynplantAU.component file there.
