Rack Extensions for Reason was released today and we are proud to be able to offer Bitspeek in their store from day 1. The Rack Extension format has been in the making for a long time and has taken many sharp turns. From the very conception of Record, it has always been the intention to add plug-in support and as a consultant I've been involved in at least three entirely different solutions (and yes, one of them was to simply add VST and AU support). It has taken its time, but the final technology is amazingly well-designed and I have high hopes for the future of this format.
Bitspeek RE is available for $49 / €39 (incl. VAT) from the Rack Extension store at http://shop.propellerheads.se/product/bitspeek

Compared to the AU/VST version, it adds the following features:
Here is a track that shows what you can do when you hook up Bitspeek to other synths and effects in Reason:
bitspeek-re-combinators by soniccharge
/ Magnus Lidström
I don't want to pay for it twice thank you!
I am not the owner of Reason, but I think the interesting possibility of routing will give a second life for plug. And the price in my opinion it is adequate.
This is awesome! I guess I'll have to check out Reason again :)
Reason 2 was the last version I tried iirc
Congrats on the release!
Cheers

If we could we would have offered a good discount to existing VST / AU owners. But we can't. There simply are no facilitates for discounts in the Rack Extension store. Sorry.

I really think that propellerhead have to think about giving crossgrade discounts, they're going to lose customers by not having a discount facility in place.
I would imagine that most thirdparty developers would agree.
i have buy it and love it!!!
you will remake the micotronic into reason????
i would love to see the microtronic in the reason rack!!!
by the way,
ever think about a Malstrom 2.0???

Well it has latency and reason has no automatic compensation so i am kind of regretting buying the RE.. furthermore i also have the vst/au version but i don't log into any host besides reason anymore, and suddenly sonic charge have stopped allowing transfers..
So i am literally stuck with it twice, one which i can never use as i ONLY use reason now.
p.s. if someone were to make a plugin that could be inserted and compensate delay in reason, much like mellowmuse ATA, the world would be a better place

Today no, tomorrow maybe. Bitspeek RE reports the correct latency to Reason, so the RE itself is prepared for latency compensation. I can't speak for Propellerheads, but I am sure that latency compensation is one of the most requested features. Built-in devices like Neptune and the BV512 Vocoder have always had uncompensated latency.

Unfortunately we couldn't do a crossgrade offer from AU/VST to RE since the RE store has no features whatsoever for individual discounts. But I think you should send us an email through the support form here and we will work something out.
those new features sound nifty. any eta on those making their way into the original bitspeek?
Can I upgrade to the re version without having to pay extra?
how do you quote someone? quote button not working. Anyway, just want to second what anonymous said: "those new features sound nifty. any eta on those making their way into the original bitspeek?"

Isn't it? When I click the "" button I get a > quoted copy in my edit box. Didn't you?

Stereo resynthesis and improved volume tracking are actually implemented in Bitspeek 1.5 that was released last year. The other features are trickier to add to an AU / VST. The extra couple of audio inputs for filtering external signals might work in some hosts, but I know from developers who have implemented side-chaining that it isn't as straight-forward as it ought to be.
CV inputs and outputs are of course possible in Reason only, but I have entertained the idea of implementing some form of MIDI CC output in the future. (As always no promises.)
Ok deleted my old reply. New reply:
Why would CV inputs and outputs only be possible in Reason? There's a handful of modular audio plugin environments which you could load bitspeek into. There are modular and semi-modular DAWs, standalone apps, and audio plugins. Also, why would you leave out the external input feature for the VST version? Bitspeek is essentially a vocoder (all vocoders have an external input).
